Emede/Igbide Crisis: IDU Youth Wing Sues for Peace

…Condemn killings, destruction of properties
…Urge state government to deploy security personnels to warring communities
The President of Isoko Development Union Youth Wing, Comrade Ede Ewariezi Hyacinth has sued for peace among two warring Delta communities, Emede and Igbide and also condemned in totality the killings and destruction of properties in the place.
Comrade Ede made this known during a press briefing at the Isoko Development Union Secretariat Oleh, Isoko South local government area of Delta State.
According to him, “it was Okpolo-Enhwe and Igbide, two neighbouring communities who had been slugging it out. Now it is Emede and Igbide.
“These fights have gotten to a level where killings and destruction of lives and properties are recorded on daily basis. Most worrisome of the inter-communual hostilities is the case of Emede and Igbide.
“Just yesterday, we heard that armed men invaded Igbide community burning down several houses with several persons feared dead, others still missing . This is totally unacceptable.
He noted that, “The Prof. Chris Akpotu led administration of the Isoko Development Union came into office at a time of great turbulence in our annals of history. From the blast of the whistle we have been bombarded with tales of catastrophic hostility among sister communities.
“The youths of Isoko under my leadership has come out today to completely and unequivocally condemn the needless war between Igbide and Emede. We are calling on our youths in these communities to henceforth desist from been used as soldiers and tools for the infliction of affliction on this land.
“Isoko is a land of peace and we must continue to remain a shinning example to other ethnic nationalities in this regard.
“We were created together by the Almighty God for the purpose of peaceful coexistence and complementing each other in ways we can, so we find it utterly disgusting that in 2021, Isoko communities are still in the practice of butchering its citizens over pieces of land that can be considered worthless in every sense of it.
“We call on the government of Delta State ably led by His Excellency, Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, to immediately ensure the deployment of security personnels to these warring communities so as to forestall peace whilst preventing any further attacks from both communities.
“We are calling on the government to also set up a panel of enquiry comprising all stakeholders to look into the Igbide and Emede issue with the hope of finding lasting solution to the impasse”, Ede concluded.
